CWS Chieftain — AFK Ultimatum & Simulacrum Farmer
Build Overview
Identity
- Primary Skill: Cast When Stunned + Detonate Dead / Righteous Fire
- Damage Type: Fire (Ignite + Hit)
- Playstyle: Face-tank → Trigger stuns → Auto-cast spells
- Budget Tier: League Starter → Medium (scales to high-budget)
- League: 3.28 Mirage | Patch: 3.28.0 | Updated: 2026-03-04
Core Concept
- Hinekora's Lock of Hair: 10% chance to trigger explosion when hit (damage + clear)
Solution:
- Build tanky để survive while stunned

Pros & Cons
Strengths ✅
- ✅ Simulacrum farmer — clear wave 30+ comfortably
- ✅ Scales extremely well — investment = massive power spikes
Weaknesses ❌
- ❌ Not for zoomers — nếu thích fast-paced gameplay, build này không phù hợp
3.28 Mirage Changes Impact
Nerfs
| Change | Impact | Mitigation |
|---|---|---|
| Bloodnotch nerfed | Early game takes 4-5 extra points for Blast Mastery | Mid-late game unaffected |
| Scavenging: 60%→70% less damage | ~25% less ignite damage | Imbued gems give +1 link (~+25% damage) — completely offset |
| Simulacrum curse/ignite refresh removed | Can't rush early simu | Endgame unaffected — CWS 2.0 doesn't need refresh |
Buffs
| Change | Impact |
|---|---|
| Core criticals can now stun | Bug fix — may improve consistency |
| Hinekora: damage halved, proc chance doubled | More consistent explosions, still dot-capped |
| Imbued gems system | Extra sockets — can do 7-link DD, 5-link Unearth |
| Mirage mechanic | Can duplicate Ultimatum → potentially 26 rounds for price of one |
Ultimatum Changes
- Imbued Ultimatum moved — no longer from map device awakened scarab
- New modifier: "Players can block" — doesn't affect us (no block chance)
- This is now a FREE modifier for CWS builds
- Catalysts scale with map quantity — 8-mod maps very profitable

Build Variants
Variant 1: Righteous Fire (Classic)
Pros:
- RF constantly damages nearby enemies
- Triggers Hinekora explosions
- Simpler gameplay
Cons:
- Cannot run no-regen maps
- Cannot run minus max res maps
- Cannot run less recovery maps
Variant 2: CWS 2.0 (Detonate Dead + Unearth) — Recommended for 3.28
Pros:
- Bypass all map modifiers (no-regen, minus max, less recovery)
- Consistent single target via DD explosions
- Better for 8-mod map farming
Cons:
- Slightly slower clear on low-tier maps
- Requires higher level Unearth for corpse life
Mechanic:
- CWS triggers Unearth → creates corpse
- CWS triggers Detonate Dead → explodes corpse
- DD kills mobs + triggers Hinekora explosions
- Penance Mark on boss → phantasms spawn → DD kills phantasms → boss damage

Passive Tree Progression
Early Game (No Bloodnotch) — Level 65-75
Key Nodes:
- Unfaltering — cannot be crit-stunned (MANDATORY)
- Stun Recovery Mastery — cannot be stunned while recovering
- Glancing Blows — reduce burst damage (one point!)
- Trial of the Faith — 5% life regen on hit, block chance
- Inexorable — endurance charge on hit
- Brink of Death — recovery when low life
- Juggernaut Mastery — PDR + damage
Recovery Mastery Choice:
- Early: "Recover 15% life over 3 seconds when hit" — reduces burst
- After Bloodnotch: REMOVE this — conflicts with PB recovery timing
Agnostic: Take if not getting stunned enough (white mobs don't trigger stun)
Bloodnotch Swap — Level 75-85
Changes:
- Drop Glancing Blows block nodes
- Add Essence Destruction + Flask Mastery (mandatory)
- Look for jewels with recoup
- Anoint Vampirism on amulet (life on kill + leech)
Midgame Tree — Level 85-95
Priorities:
- Triple large cluster setup
- Extend tree for jewels
- Fire DoT multi + life on jewels
- Begin max fire res jewels (stage 4 prep)
Endgame Tree — Level 95+
- Double Nebulis synergy
- Full max fire res on jewels
- Consider Champion of the Cause (3 points) or tattoo for reservation
Cluster Jewel Setup
Large Clusters (3x identical)
Required Notables:
- Burning Brights (prefix) — fire DoT multi
- Widespread Destruction (suffix) — spread ignites
Third Notable (don't take):
- Smoking Remains
- Master of Fire
- Creator
Crafting Method:
- Buy ilvl 45-67 base (cannot roll unwanted mods)
- Harvest reforge fire
- Null exalt until correct combo
- Recommendation: Just buy them — crafting is painful
Cluster Count: Start with 1, progress to 3 (outer path tree)
Gear Roadmap
Phase 1: League Start (0-50 chaos)
Core Items:
| Slot | Item | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shield | Rise of the Phoenix | ~1c | Early game staple, max fire res |
| Belt | Immortal Flesh | ~1c | Best early belt, carries to midgame |
| Helmet | Maw of Conquest | 1c | 20% recoup, extremely good |
| Flask | Ruby Flask | 1c | Fire res + ignition suffix |
| Weapon | Rare wand/sceptre | 1c | Cast speed + fire damage |
Target Stats:
- 3500-4000 life
- 75% all res
- One proliferation source (Ignite Proliferation gem)
Flasks Priority:
- Ruby Flask with ignite immunity suffix (VERY important — no more curse refresh)
- Ruby Flask #2 with fire res
- Quicksilver for movement
- Life flask for emergency
Phase 2: Bloodnotch Swap (1-5 divine)
Key Items:
| Slot | Item | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chest | Bloodnotch (25%+) | 1-2 div | Core mechanic |
| Jewel | Immutable Force | 50c-1 div | Any roll until 961% (one server tick per stun) |
| Weapon | The Bleeding Heart | 1-2 div | Penance Mark trigger for single target |

Upgrades from Phase 1:
- Replace Immortal Flesh → Rise of the Seventh Sun (when affordable)
- Can also use Alpha's Howl (32% life reservation efficiency) for extra aura
Phase 3: Midgame (5-15 divine)
5-Stage Upgrade Path:
Stage 1: Nebulis
Biggest power spike — ~450% increased damage vs 20% normally
- Damage literally goes 2.5x when equipped
- Priority #1 midgame upgrade
Stage 2: First Cluster
- Drop damage nodes for large cluster
- Look for Burning Brights + Widespread Destruction
- Use Glancing Blows + As the Mountain until triple cluster ready
Stage 3: Triple Clusters
- Full outer path tree
- 3 identical large clusters
- Extend tree for jewels (life + fire DoT multi)
- Add endurance charge nodes
Stage 4: Prism Guardian + Malevolence
- Swap shield → Prism Guardian
- Add Malevolence via reservation efficiency
- Options: 3 points Champion of the Cause / Belt anoint / Treacherous Tattoo
- Jewels now need max fire res in addition to life
Stage 5: CWS 2.0 Transition
- +2 helmet for Unearth levels
- 6-link or 7-link Detonate Dead
- 4-5 link Unearth setup
- Drop RF entirely
Phase 4: Endgame (15+ divine)
Chase Items:
| Slot | Item | Priority | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Helmet | Honorless (+2 implicit) | High | Level 32 Unearth target |
| Ring | Defiance of Destiny | Medium | Run immediately if obtained |
| Belt | Screams of the Desiccated | Medium | Red shrine + damage shrine prefix |
| Jewel | Watcher's Eye (Vitality) | Low | Hits or Malevolence multi |
| Belt | Mageblood | Lowest | Least priority — always full flasks anyway |
Double Nebulis Dream:
- Run 2x Nebulis for maximum damage
- Requires max res on all jewels
- Simulacrum-ready at this point
Ignite Chance Management
Problem: No more curse mastery ignite refresh in 3.28
Solutions (pick 2-3):
| Source | Ignite Chance | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Blastopics | 35% | During flask effect |
| Flammability (instead of Punishment) | Base chance | Slightly less damage |
| Chance Tattoos | Variable | Strength nodes on left side |
| Cooked Alive (cluster notable) | +Rap and Flame | Medium cluster option |
| Flask Suffix | ~30% | Highly recommended — carries to endgame |
Recommendation: Flask suffix + 1-2 tattoos usually enough
Farming Strategy
Ultimatum
Early Game:
- Run scout maps (low-tier)
- Avoid high burst modifiers
- AVOID: Firefall, Lightning Fall, Small Arena
Mid-Late Game:
- Progress to harder maps
- Catalysts scale with map quantity
- 8-mod maps very profitable for sinestral/dextral catalysts
- T16 required for T0 inscribed drops
Good Modifiers for CWS:
- Players can block (free modifier for us!)
- Anything that increases damage taken
- Avoid burst damage mods
Simulacrum
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 1 Nebulis (preferably 2)
- CWS 2.0 setup
- Can kill phantasm in one DD explosion
Strategy:
- Penance Mark on Kosis/Omniphobia
- DD kills phantasms → damage to boss
- Stand in middle, let them come to you
FAQ
Stun Mechanics
Q: Why am I not getting stunned?
Possible reasons:
- Too much armor — reduce armor or take Agnostic
- Valyrium equipped — removes stun capability
- High evasion — not getting hit
- Flask with avoid stun suffix — remove it
Q: How much Bloodnotch % do I need?
A: More = better. Aim for 25%+.
Q: How much Immutable Force?
A: Any roll works until 961% combined (one server tick per stun). Block mastery and other stun recovery sources stack.
Single Target
Q: How does single target work?
A: Penance Mark strategy:
- Cast Penance Mark on boss (via The Bleeding Heart or weapon)
- Phantasms spawn around boss
- Phantasms hit you → trigger CWS
- DD explodes phantasms → damage to boss
- Hinekora explosions chain
Q: My AoE seems too small?
A: More AoE = better. Phantasms need to hit the boss when exploding.
Q: Do I need ignite chance for single target?
A: As close to 100% as possible.
General
Q: Can I run this SSF?
A: Yes, but Bloodnotch/Immutable Force required from Heist. Can start without them.
Q: What maps can't I run?
A: RF variant: no-regen, minus max res, less recovery. CWS 2.0: none!
Q: Is this good for beginners?
A: Requires understanding of stun mechanics. Not recommended for absolute beginners, but experienced players will find it straightforward.
Q: Where do endurance charges come from?
A: Inexorable (tree) + Unflinching (forbidden jewels from Juggernaut)
Leveling Guide
